December 16, 2000 – COVINGTON
Consistency is something that comes with time and repetition. To this point of the early season, the Buccs haven't been able to find the consistency they need. Coming off of an impressive 10-point win over Franklin Monroe, the Buccs were looking to keep for continued improvement against Anna. Well, it wasn't meant to be. Anna came into Covington and handed the Buccs a 64-59 defeat.

Things started out well for the Buccs. They were able to rack up 20 points in the first period but Anna remained right on their heals by chipping in 17 points of their own. The Buccs held a slim 3 point lead at the half at 33-30.

It appeared as if the Buccs were starting to take over in the third period. Anna was unable to penetrate the Bucc' defense and the result was only 8 points in the period. Covington, however, was able to increase their lead to 10 points by the end of the third and went into the final period with the momentum.

This is when things fell apart for the Buccs. Anna burned the nest for 26 fourth period points and the Buccs were unable to match them point-for-point. The 10-point lead the Buccs held at the end of the third quickly evaporated. Anna outscored the Buccs 26-11 in the final stanza to take the win 64-59.

Jason Meyer again led the Buccs with 27 points. The only other Buccaneer in double figures was Bert Roeth who chipped in 13 points. The Buccs were outrebounded by the Rockets 30-22.

The Buccs, who dropped their record to 2-2 on the season, hope to get back on track when they face Arcanum in three days.
