December 23, 2000 COVINGTON
The Buccs have performed well in their last two games and they looked to keep things going against arch-rival Bradford. They had to do it without their leading scorer, Jason Meyer who sat out for the second time in the last three games.
Balance and consistency was the key for the Buccs. Three Buccaneers scored in double digits as they pounded Bradford 62-47 to improve to 5-2 on the season. The Buccs outscored the Railroaders in each of the first three quarters to put the game out of reach going into the fourth period, 50-32. The later part of the fourth period was a change for Coach Craft to see some of his depth. Eight players scored points for the Buccs on the night and they controlled the glass with 34 rebounds to 27 for Bradford. Derreck Shively was dominating under the boards by pulling down 13 rebounds of his own.
The Buccs did struggle from beyond the arch as they only made good on 2 out of 12 from three-points land. The Buccs shot 47 percent from two-point range and made 10 out of 16 from the line. Bradford reached the line 22 times and made good on 18 shots. The Buccs held the Railroaders to only 37 percent from two-point range and 10 percent from three-point range.
Next the Buccs travel to take on an always tough Russia team.
