The Covington Buccaneers closed out the regular season with a strong performance against Dayton Christian to improve to 16-4 on the season. The Buccs head into tournament play with a ton of momentum after winning 13 out of the last 14 games. The only defeat the Buccs suffered in the last 14 games was at the hands of the Bethel Bees.
The Buccs struggled to find their stroke in the first half, falling behind 31-28 at the half. They didn't do much better in the third period as Dayton Christian increased their lead to 4 points by outscoring the Buccs 17-16 in the third.
Like all great championship teams, the Buccs dominated down the stretch. Led by Jason Meyer, the Buccs outscored Dayton Christian 19-11 in the fourth period to take a 63-59 win.
On the night for the Buccs, Jason Meyer poured in 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Jarod Meyer and Bert Roeth contributed with 12 points each. Jarod also delivered 7 of the Buccs 19 assists on the night.
The Buccs begin the Sectional Tournament at Piqua High School on February 27 against Houston.
