January 12, 2001 TRI-VILLAGE
The Buccs' 65-47 win over Tri-Village give them a 4-game winning streak and they've won 6 out of their last 7 games. With battles against Bethel, Twin Valley South and Tipp City coming up in the near future, the Buccs need all of the momentum they can get.
After a close first period which saw the Buccs fall behind 15-13, the Buccs dominated. They got stronger and more dominant as each quarter progressed.
Covington outscored Village 13-8 in the second, 23-15 in the third and 17-9 in the fourth.
Great teams know how to close the show.
Earlier in the season, the Buccs struggled in the fourth quarter but lately they've been able to finish strong. As the season progresses and the Buccs face more talented teams, they will have to continue to perform in the fourth quarter.
Jason Meyer continues to be the Buccs' go-to-guy, so to speak, as he led the Buccs with 24 points. Bert Roeth and Jarod Meyer each knocked down 12 points a piece While Jason Meyer grabbed 9 rebounds.
The Buccs controlled the boards again as they grabbed 30 rebounds to the Patriots' 20 while only committing 8 turnovers.
Covington shot close to 50 percent from the field for the second consecutive game. If the Buccs can continue to control the ball, shoot around 50 percent and control the glass, they will be tough to beat down the stretch.
Next the Buccs travel to Bethel to battle the Bees. Both teams are looking to take a major step forward in the race for the CCC title.
