After trailing just 22-20 at half time, the Covington Buccaneers could only manage six points in the second half and fell 54-26 to Marion Local, Saturday.
All six second half points came in the third period as Covington was outscored 23-0 in the fourth quarter, turning a 31-26 game into a route.
The defeat is the Buccs' fifth straight after opening the season with a victory over Versailles.
The visiting Flyers dominated on the boards, pulling down 22 rebounds to just 12 for Covington. Marion Local also held a 13-4 advantage on the offensive end.
Covington committed 15 turnovers on the evening, while Marion Local turned the ball over nine times. Ten of Covington's turn overs were on steals by the Flyers.
The Buccs shot just 27% from the floor, converting on just nine of 33 attempts. Marion Local was 22 of 46 for 48% and held a 36-12 points advantage in the paint.
Covington was a perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line, while Marion Local was 7 for 9.
Kody Thiebeau, Jordy Meyer and Jordy Burelison each scored eight points to lead Covington. Nate Lavey was the only remaining Buccaneer to score points on the evening with two points.
Covington drops to 1-5 on the season and will be back in action next Saturday at home against Russia.
