Covington enters their 22nd year in the Cross County Conference. This year’s team returns with most of its core from last year losing only three players to graduation.

The Covington Buccaneers enter the 2012-13 season coming off a 10-11 overall record and (7-5) in the Cross County Conference. The varsity team this year will return with plenty of experience.

The team will once again face some stiff competition in the CCC and, like always, will have an extremely competitive non-league schedule. Covington will travel to Versailles, Houston, Anna and Marion Local, as well as, compete in the Buckeye Insurance Holiday Tournament held at Piqua High School. The BUCCS also have tough non-league games at home with Coldwater, Milton Union, and New Bremen.

The BUCCANEER players on the varsity roster this season will be expected to provide the experience and leadership necessary in order to challenge for the league title and be tournament ready. Returning from last year’s team are Seniors Cole Owens, Dylan Owens, Troy Cron, Ryan Craft, Austin Angle, Trent Tobias, and Gabe Mohler. All of these players have valuable varsity experience that will be needed to compete against quality competition.

Newcomers to this year’s roster are: (Senior) Cody Adams, (Juniors) Andre Benedict, Bobby Alexander, Tyler Henry, Tyler Clark and Seth Clark. All of these players contributed last year on a very competitive reserve team and look to make a difference now at the varsity level.

The 2012-13 Covington Buccaneers enter this season with determination, optimism and excitement. However, the Cross County Conference will provide some tough competition. Added to this are the non-league foes, and you can see that the Buccs will have many challenges to overcome as they strive to continue their tradition of excellence.
