The Covington Buccaneers went into Coldwater riding high from an impressive win on Friday and nearly came away with another big win on the road.
Unfortunately, the Buccaneers fell one possession short as the game went into overtime tied 59-59. From there, Covington couldn't find the bottom of the net as Coldwater went on an 11-0 run to close out the game, 70-59.
Covington shot 51% from the floor (26-51), 33% from the behind the arc (5-15) and just 50% from the free throw line (2-4).
Coldwater shot 50% from the floor (23-46), 21% on three's (4-19) and won the game at the free throw line by make 20 of 28 attempts for 71%.
The Cavaliers controlled the boards by pulling down 32 rebounds to 21 for Covington and held a 9-4 edge on the offensive glass.
Both teams had 11 turnovers in the contest.
Covington was whistled for 18 fouls and Coldwater had seven fouls on the night.
The Buccs were led in scoring by Andre Benedict, who tallied 21 on the night. Tyler Henry scored 18 points, while freshman Nathan Blei had a team-leading 8 rebounds.
Covington looks to regroup as it hosts Arcanum on Tuesday.
