The '76-'77 Covington Buccs were dominating. They finished the regular season with a 20-3 record and captured the District Championship. The Buccs' season came to an end in the regionals to eventual state champion, Ft. Loramie.

The Buccs were led by two talented players in Jay Meyer and Joe Hitchcock. Jay scored 515 points, (the second single season total to Tom Dunn's 567) averaging 22.4 points per game. Joe Hitchcock dropped in 18.2 points per game for a total of 418 points on the season.

Meyer finishes his career third on the Buccaneer's all-time scoring list with 1,000 points. Ahead of Meyer is Tom Dunn with 1,721 and Ed Hartley with 1,105 points.

Jay Meyer was named to All Southwest District 1st Team, A.P. All State 2nd Team, and District 9 All-Star Team.
