March 6, 2010 - Tipp City
The Covington Lady Buccs had their hands full in the Division IV District Finals on Saturday against a very talented and athletic Fort Loramie team that came into the contest with a 19-4 record.

And the result was a frustrating afternoon for Covington as it suffered a 61-26 defeat.

The tone of the game was established in the opening frame as Fort Loramie's smothering defense forced ten Covington turnovers en route to a 16-4 advantage.

The margin spread to 29-9 at the break as the Lady Buccs never could establish an offensive flow against the Redskin pressure.

Covington put together its most efficient quarter in the third by scoring 11 points, but Fort Loramie still managed to increase the deficit with a 14-point quarter and a 43-20 lead.

An 18-6 Redskin advantage in the final frame ended matters, 61-26, ending Covington's season with a 12-12 record after finishing with a 9-11 record in the regular season.

Senior Alyssa Angle led the Lady Buccs with 8 points, while Fort Loramie received a game high 16 points from Clair Ruhenkamp and 11 points each by Janel Olberding and Kristen Zumberger.

Despite the loss, the Covington Lady Buccs walked off the court a proud team after claiming a sectional championship as a sixth seed.

It was Covington's first trip to the district finals since the 06-07 season, something the senior class of Alyssa Angle, Shelby Hoblit, Erin Waterfall, Halley Roberts and Carole Bayse can be proud of.
